The Story:

Otomagnetics has developed a delivery system that essentially acts as a magnetic syringe. This system replaces a needle or surgery-enabled administration by magnetic forces acting on bio-compatible magnetic nano-particles, that can deliver drugs, genes or proteins through tissue barriers to hard-to-reach targets. In animal and human cadaver studies, the system has shown minimally-invasive magnetic drug delivery into ear compartments, into the eye, and into the skin. Efficacy has been shown in animal models for hearing loss, for tinnitus, protection of hearing from chemotherapy regimens, and for treatment of middle ear infections. There have been no observed safety issues. Technology development has been funded by over $6M in non-dilutive funding, and company is now seeking investor funding to support IND-enabling FDA studies so as to then enter human clinical testing.
